ABOUT TLC

Our Mission

The mission of the Tracy Learning Center is to equip students with the skills necessary to better understand themselves, their relationship with learning, and their responsibility as a citizen of the 21st Century. The schools meet the needs of every student by making possible engaging, relevant, and intellectually challenging learning opportunities that were previously difficult or impossible to achieve. The ability to utilize, manipulate, and share information enables pupils to become self-motivated, competent, and life-long learners. The teachers act as facilitators providing opportunities for small group instruction and individualized learning. Teachers also create a community which empowers students to discover the unique qualities of their own learning. Learning does not result from access alone, but from continuous dynamic interaction among students, educators, parents, and the extended community.

Welcome to TLC
A Message from the Director

A woman with short curly hair smiles warmly at the camera.

We have a lot to be proud of at the Tracy Learning Center!

Discovery Charter, the first of the three TLC schools, was founded in 2001. That year, Discovery had an enrollment of 125 students and served students in grades 5 and 6.

Three years later, Primary and Millennium were established and completed the vision of the Tracy Learning Center. I was privileged to be hired as the first kindergarten teacher at Primary Charter in 2004. Over the years, I taught grades K-4 and served as the Learning Director for Primary for many years. In 2017, I transitioned to the Director of Human Resources and worked very closely with our former CEO, Virginia Stewart.

When it was announced that I would succeed Mrs. Stewart as the next CEO of the Tracy Learning Center, I felt extremely honored. It is a pleasure to be able to lead such an amazing group of students, parents, and staff. TLC is a special place and I intend to continue its legacy of being an innovative, awe-inspiring, engaging place to learn!

Sincerely, Carolyn Woods
